Exotic Flooring | - Brazilian Cherry
(hymenaea courbaril) - A striking red-colored wood, this
exceedingly hard flooring is good for residential and commercial
applications. Also known by its trade name - Jatoba. Stocked in
3/4" solid unfinished and pre-finished. (Janka Hardness rating
of 2820.)
- Brazilian Walnut
(Tabebuia spp.) -Deep dark colored wood with exceptionally
fine graining. Density of this wood lends it both to commercial and
residential applications as well. Trade name - Ipe'. Stocked in
3/4" solid unfinished and pre-finished. (Janka Hardness rating of
3680.)
- Southern Chestnut
(dipteryx odorata) - Also know by its trade name Cumaru or
Brazilian Teak, this wood ranges in color from Golden Tan to medium
and dark Brown. Very dense with fine graining. Stocked in
3/4" solid unfinished and pre-finished. (Janka Hardness rating
of 3540.)
- Teak (Tectona
grandis) - The Color has a range of many various golden
browns. Stocked in 3/4" solid unfinished. (Janka Hardness
rating of 1155.)
Wenge
(Millettia laurentii) - Deep Chocolate Brown that will
darken over time to a more uniform dark brown almost black color.
Stocked in 3/4" solid unfinished. (Janka Hardness rating of
1630.) Sapele
(Entandrophragma cylindricum) - The heartwood ranges in
color from medium to dark red/brown or purple/brown. Stocked
in 3/4" solid unfinished. (Janka Hardness rating of
1500.) Merbau
(Intsia biuga/intsia palembanica) -Varied Tan to medium
reddish Brown. Stocked in 3/4" solid unfinished (Janka Hardness
rating of 1925.) Tigerwood (Astronium spp) - Known by its
trade name Goncalo Alves, Tigerwood ranges from light Golden Brown
to Orange & Reddish Brown with Black & Brown
Striping and wavy grain. Stocked in 3/4" solid unfinished and
pre-finished. (Janka Hardness rating of 2160.) Australian Cypress (Callitris glauca) - This
is a knotty pine with hardness that exceeds Red Oak. With its
warm honey colored wood and darker heartwood that contains
numerous knots which are characteristic of this species, this wood
is an excellent choice for the log cabin or resort. Stocked in 3/4"
solid unfinished and pre-finished. (Janka Hardness rating of
1375.) - Zebrawood (Microberlinia
brazzavillensis) - The heartwood of Zebrawood is a
pale yellow/brown with narrow Dark Brown Stripes, which will
change over time and darken. The cream colored background
will darken to an amber tone and the darker stripes will turn
almost black. Stocked in 3/4" solid unfinished. (Janka
Hardness rating of 1575.)
Purpleheart (Peltogyne spp) - Also known
as Pau Roxo, this wood is very deep purple to a purplish brown
which will gradually change with exposure to sunlight to a
chocolate purple. Stocked in 3/4 inch solid unfinished. (Janka
Hardness rating of 2090.) - Morado (Machaerium
sclieroxylon) - Also known as Bolivian Rosewood, this
wood is known for its distinct dark brown color with black
striping, which will lighten to a golden tan over time.
Stocked in 3/4" solid unfinished. (Janka Hardness rating of
1780.)
| Domestics | American
Walnut (Juglans, nigra) - The sapwood is a tan to
white color in contrast to the heartwood which varies from a deep
brown to purple/black. This specie tends to
have great variation in color and grain than most
others. (Janka Hardness rating of 1010.) White Oak
(Quercus, alba) - The sapwood is a white/cream color
in contrast to the light brown heartwood. (Janka
Hardness rating of 1360.) Red Oak
(Quercus , rubra) - The sapwood is lighter in color than
the heartwood, although very close in tone, both having a reddish
tone (Janka Hardness rating of 1260.) Steamed
Beech-(Janka Hardness rating -1300.) N. American
Cherry (Prunus, serotina) - The sapwood is light brown
with pink tones and the heartwood is a reddish/brown.
(Janka Hardness rating of 950.) N. American
Maple (Acer saccharum) - The heartwood
is light reddish brown with a creamy white sapwood,
closed grain and uniform texture - (Janka Hardness rating of
1450.)
